How do you know when you need a new flywheel
My car wont go into gear when the engine is on and it stalls when i start it in gear. I hear getting a clutch kit will solve this, but how do i know if i need a flywheel too or if my slave cylinder is dead.
thanks

things you should state first: is it a stock clutch? was there any funny noises or issues before it decided not to go into gear anymore? does your clutch pedal still have pressure. did you re bleed your clutch line? cable or hydro?
Any competent machine shop can resurface your OEM flywheel at minimal cost.
Remove the rubber boot on the outside of the slave cylinder and have somebody press the clutch pedal. You should be able to see if it's moving or not.

Flywheel should be checked and resurfaced during a clutch job because it's easy to do and because the flywheel wears with the clutch. It's a good time to replace the flywheel if you want a lighter aftermarket one. If the flywheel is already aftermarket it should be checked and possibly replaced (I believe many light flywheels can't be resurfaced).
