Default Engine turns off while driving only

'94 LX will start and idle just fine. But as soon as you try to drive, it shuts off. Sometimes it will drive for 5 minutes, sometimes a half an hour, but recently, it just started not going anywhere! I checked both engine grounds, and reset ECU.

Just this morning, car idled for 15 minutes, and as soon as I went to drive the engine turned off and after dying once, it would crank but not turn over...

When idling in neutral car revs just fine..

Car ran 100% Fine until two days ago.

Is the check engine light on? If it's not it could be your main relay or ICM (igniter).

There is no CEL. could it be ICM if it revs to almost limiter with no problem while sitting in neutral?

Im re-soldering the Main Relay now. Going to put it in and drive around the block, see what i can come up with.

Thank you for the response, im thinking it might possibally be the coil, who knows. Trying to do all the FREE checking i can before i go investing $80 in a coil and ICM

May even be a poor or loose wire connection in the ignition system. Does it cut out immediately or does it stall out?

It cuts out immediately! Dealership said it shouldn't be ignition if when it's started and i jiggle the key around, the engine would shut off.

Your symptoms sound similar to mine. Does your car seem to start up fine after it has cooled down a while, say 20-30 minutes?

I've seen enough threads now about Accord idling fine but stalling under load and refusing to start up again until cooled down that I'm thinking it's the same problem for all in similar year/mileage range. I'm going to get back under the hood this weekend and keep tinkering.

As much as I wanna lean towards the problem being about spark (because it usually is) I suspect this one is about fuel. Possibly a fuel pump that can do the job fine until the demand increases. Fuel pumps needs to be tip top or car won't run right. Here's an interesting article about bad fuel pumps:

Also here's my thread if you want to cross reference info. Please post back if you solve this problem. I am going to do the same. Thanks.

No point in wasting money on parts if you are not sure what the problem is. You could have paid that $80 to the honda dealership to run thorough diagnostics on the car and find out exactly whats wrong.

Everyone always blames the main relay but i can honestly say that after owning 3 of these cars over 5 years i have never had to replace one.
