Guys, need your expert opinions on this.
I have a stock 93 civic si, i've replaced the fuel filter, spark plugs and distributor.
the car does not start when i put gas in...it seems that the fuel system loses pressure once i open up the gas tank and i have to floor the gas pedal in order for the car to start (if i'm lucky) sometimes i have to jump start the car at the gas station in order to get it going and i would have to floor the gas pedal as well...any ideas? I appreciate your help.

 

Try priming it 2-3 times first. Is that the ONLY time you have this problem?

 

yeah, that's most of the time i have problems and when i park in an incline hill.

 

Fuel relay maybe, take it out and test it.

 

i'll take a look at that this weekend and let you guys know...any other things i should look at? do you guys think the fuel pump might be an issue as well? I never had a faulty fuel pump before in any of my other cars so i don't know if these are symptoms of it.

 

I had a similar problem in my 91, I thought it was my fuel pump but turned out to be fuel relay. I would test out the relay first since its free, if it checks out then proceed to fuel pump.

 

is there a fuel pressure sensor or sending unit?

 

How do I test out the fuel relay? i'm sure i can find it on my service manual but is there a fast and easy way of testing it. thanks.

 

I have no idea...i'll have to talk to my honda mechanic if there is one or refer to the service manual...but i think MEOSHE is on to something with checking the fuel relay first.
