There's no room for a fuel cell anywhere in your car.

Because i will need a higher octane gas then 93 if i plan on running above 15psi on the street. Running 10psi daily is ok, but for those times that i catch a supra on the interstate id like to be able to boost the full 20+psi.

sounds like you jsut need to run some good gas all the time. I have no idea what gas you have aroudn you but 93-94 octane on a 9.0-9.5 cr is all you need for 20 psi.

That is not true. My motor, h23a, has a relatively low mean specific brake consumption (aka "bsfc" i think). That means that the "safe" range of the motor on 93 octane is around 300whp. Other factors come into play when determining an actual theoretical power, but basically what determines it is how the cylinder combustion chamber is designed as well as what it is made out of. If you try running 93 octane with 20psi i can just about assure you that you'll melt a piston or two.

I'm still curious as to how you arrived at that number. Although the H23 isn't as "efficient" as say a B series, but it's no pushrod Domestic by any means.

I say tune with the highest pump gas you can run, daily. Then if you find that you need to run higher octane, then do it. Not all calculations are exact. Like you said, there are alot of variables that determine your overall net HP.

In addition, how much did you want to run on the streets?! 300whp will break the tires loose in 4th! Especially with the torquey boosted H23! I say tune with what you can run on pump gas, then "if" you need higher octane, then look for ways to introduce that sweet juice. You're looking 3 steps ahead, when you haven't even taken a step yet.

Good luck on everything. And keep us posted on your results!

A friend of mine in canada with a fully built h23a is pushing 600+whp out of his set up. He was given this information by a mechanic/engine builder, who often talks with individuals working for JG engine dynamics. I believe that mean specific brake consumption has to do with engine heat dissipation, combustion chamber design, temperatures generated when fuel is turned into thermal & kinetic energy, etc. This value is only limited in terms of the fuel we are using. Currently im pushing out 330whp, and yes i break the tires loose in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and a bit in 4th. And im sure the t4 turbo im upgrading to wont help traction issues that much either.

Cant you open up the combustion chambers a bit and help up that number.

Theoretically the answer SHOULD be yes, but i dont know that much about this subject. The material of the combustion chamber also plays a role in this matter. Does anyone have any other info on this topic?

I guarantee you that you can make over 400 whp with 94 octane. The reason i am so sure is being that i have a dyno at my disposal and that fact that i have dont it. I have even done it with an LS motor. Check the sig, anytime you want to se over 300 whp on 94 octane come on down. No need to worry about BSFC, the only time i even tke that into consideration is when im designing a fuel system for a given car. I jsut use it to get an idea of what size injectors is the bare minimum to use.
