External is for higher Hp/boost applications.. They allow you do turn the boost up alot higher than a internal and hold boost better, rather than fluctuating.. Also alot of the larger turbo's are not meant for a internal wastegate.. you can keep the internal if you dont plan on running going crazy .

External wastegates are the way to go.

Better boost control, Decreased spool times, sound cooler...

i went from internal wg to external with my greddy 18g on my stock b16 and went from 295hp to 350 just by doing that and going from the crappy log manifold to ramhorn,...all it involves really is to spot weld the internal flapper shut and get a manifold with external wg, oh and also take the internal wg canister and arm off the turbo too since you wont need it anymore...or not to thread jack also you guys can just buy my greddy 18g im selling now thats already all done with the downpipe and everything for external wg from me lol

Internal gates work ok for some applications. External works great for all applications.
