My speedometer cuts in and out. I tried 4 different speed sensors and i've tried a cluster that i know for sure works. I still can't figure it out. Any ideas?
i had this problem and it ended up being my alternator being bad. Check that because youll be glad to catch it now vs when you try to start your car and it wont start because the battery will run all the systems with out being charged back up by the alt
not thread jacking!! but i have the same problem and have tried the same 'fix its' i'm gonna change my alternator and c, i'll let ya kno..
-btw how could it b the alternator? jw

a loose wire in the back of the cluster sounds more logical than the alternator. not understander the alternator. i just need to get mine working so i can put a s2k cluster conversion in my hatch.
well In my case it was the alternator because well it charges the battery but when the battery is given the burden to run the entire system it cant handle it all so some of the systems stop working my first sign was my spedo.. then my injectors started sputtering. iand later i stopped the car and couldnt start it again. so if it hasnt quit by now it pry is fine but if youve had any similar problems with spuddering.
actually i had the same problem. several times. it was the alternator, first few times it was because i had an amp pushing 1200 watts to two subs that combined could only handle 900 watts. im not sure exactly how it works but i was told the wattage that doesnt get used by the subs get sent back to the amp or something, idk. anywho, the stereo drained the alternator. first thing to go was the speedometer, after a few days the entire car died. i replaced a total of 7-8 alternators. and once it wasnt the big boombox in the trunk, the wire that goes to the alternator was loose.
all in all, if you dont have a big boombox in the trunk, check to make sure all your wiring is tightly secured

Have you checked the plug for your VSS? A buddy of mine had this problem, and we swapped a few different speed sensors with no luck. After looking and looking, I found that one of the PINS in his speed sensor plug had corroded and broke off. We ended up taking a VSS plug off of an extra engine harness we had at the time, swapped plugs, and boom problem solved.
Just a suggestion.
