Default Vtec help!

My water temp gauge on my doesn't work anymore and my vtec will not engage. I changed the ect sensor with a used one and still no help? Please help! Car is a 98 Hx coupe.

Try changing the gauge itself.

did you check your oil?
did you check the wiring for your coolant temperature sensor?
are you sure the used sensor is good?

Oil is fresh, the wiring is factory no tampering with and it looks fine, sensor maybe bad but they worked fine before they were pulled. I think the car isn't reading the coolant temp so it will not engage vtec : (
