20hz and lower subwoofer.
I am looking for a sub that can get down to potentially 20Hz and even lower.
This will probably have to be a 15in or even 18? I was doing some research and it seems like certain 12s "claim" to get to 23Hz. Does anyone know if this is true? I would settle for 23Hz. I will be glassing a box for this.
Preferably ~300wrms at a 2ohm load.

20hz most humans ears cant even hear it. And to run a 15 or an 18 with only 300wrms that it going to be one super cheap paper cone sub. What is your goal for this?
I was thinking of trying something new, an angled "volcano" box, where the speaker basically sits at an angle at the end of a cone, to cut down on SWs. Then I had another idea, if I could map out the precise wavelength(s) of the specific frequency or frequencies that I wanted to amplify, I build a box whose back dimension is 1/2 the wavelength in order to "aid" the sub. Yes, I am a nerd, and would like to dip into some more "unconventional" ideas if you will, to see what I can make work...
Any thoughts? Or am I just completely insane?
And 300wrms will push a 12poly much louder than I like to listen to it...

I read about that one and it seems to need some ridiculous power (1000wrms
, I don't have that kind of money to "play" with you know what I mean).
Any other suggestions? Lets keep a limit on the speaker to maybe $150? It seems like the infinities can get to 20Hz fairly easily in a ported box, unless the bastards extrapolated their graphs down that low...
This is by no means meant to be a high end audio system. It's more meant to be on the cheaper side and unconventional, but the way it's done will (or try to anyway
) make it sound pretty damn good.

every sub can play 20hz, it will move like crazy and only people blocks away will hear it. try a transmission line box or something like a 6th order bandpass. for 150 bucks, just pick up a kicker or RF sub off of ebay and have some fun.
You probably like to hear that frequency hz but for me it not audible. I don't like how it sound because it not near as loud. It sound good on home theatre system. I have build a tune box from 27 to 40 hz and not all them sound good for me. I know 27 hz is probably not same as 23 hz but it do get lows but not as loud to me. I like to play thump music between 34 and 36 hz...
why are you trying to go 20hz? comps go from high 20's to high 50's maybe 60's and like the others said with 300 watts? lol fail tread.. do more research
Post fail... You need to read.
Years ago ( actually a couple of decades ago lol) I took a Kicker Mohawk 15" and built a box tuned to 18-20hz just for giggles and ran it off crunch 100. Kinda the same plan you are trying to do. I don't remember if I could actually hear the low hum of that freq but I vividly remember the box trying to walk all over the floor. after we secured it and tried it again...it did more dropping of the ceiling tiles and window rattling than anything (much to our bosses disdain).
hmmm i have a Cetec guass 18" lying around, might do that experiment again. Should be fun in the van.

Did you run a standard rectangular box with a circular port or slot port?
yeah it was a huge box with a slot port. The funny part of the whole deal was I had the idea and an car audio manufacture engineer made it a reality! Back in the "golden age" of car audio you had unprecedented access to techs. Well he was in the area doing training and took another vendors 6th order bandpass box and dropped in another sub (made it a iso-6th ) and it just slammed (better than before). We talked about it over, gave him a copy of the "white papers" and said call me in a week. Called and got the measurements for the enclosure. Built it and had fun. Those were the days

I can go digging around in my files, but I seriously doubt it...I mean it was 20 years ago.
