Icon6 Engine acting sporadically!!!

Things to consider:

B16 Swap
Chipped ECU
New dizzy
new spark plugs
oil changed every 3k miles

My engine seems to increase in speed every now and then. For example, I'll be pulling out of a light in 1st, and the car will seem to be accelerating normally, and all of a sudden it will "speed" up for about 500-1000k rpm and then assume normal acceleration afterward.

It has been doing this for a while, but it's infrequent, occurring only a few times a week at lower rpms. What caught my attention was one day that i was testing my cars acceleration after a tune up. Well, in 2nd gear, as I was approaching 7k rpm, the engine roared and the car shot so quick to 8k I barely had time to shift. At first i thought the VTEC was faulty and kicking in sporadically after 5500 rpm, but was told by a shop known for their work on Honda's that if it had been the VTEC at fault, then it would have threw a CEL,which it didn't.

They told me to change the plugs, which I did, yet the car continues to sporadically accelerate at low rpm's. I also accused my clutch for causing the problem, but i'm not sure how to prove if thats the problem, since i don't have much experience with faulty clutches and their affects . Help!!

Sounds like you're clutch may be slipping. When you say accelerate does the car go faster or, do the RPM's just flare up?

Both! It's most noticeable when your higher in the rev range, cause the engine will accelerate like I just sprayed a 50 shot. If it is my clutch, will I need a new flywheel? What clutch do you recommend? How can I make SURE it's the clutch and not something else?

Well if it is your clutch then it would'nt accelerate, the RPM's would just flare up and you would'nt go any faster. So it sounds more like a powertrain management issue. Are there any codes stored in the computer?
