Default missfiring? check engine light...

this morning i was coming home from work i was on a back road and really for the first time I ripped my car miss shift into 3rd. I get home and nothing happen. I go back out and engine check light comes on and it start running weird. I take it over to auto-zone and he runs the codes and tells me something about overspeed and misfire in cly. 2,3. I have a bad idle like it about to stall out and than I have this weird smell. any ideas what this is any how i can fix this. I also have a flashing engine check light.

I agree that it is most likely bent valves.

I'm sorry to say it but if you guys are miss shifting (which I see ALL THE TIME on this forum) then you are probably driving too hard and slamming gears. Some of the best advice given to me and as it directly states in the B&M shifter catalog is "treat the shift **** like an egg".

Shifts need to be quick, precise and smooth. Not hard and fast. And you will learn that after you get quick, precision shifting down it'll actually become faster and the transmission won't resist as much.

Some food for though.

Since my question is kind of along the lines of bent valves I'll post here rather than make a new thread. Is the k20a2 an interference (one that lacks sufficient clearance between the valves and pistons if the cam stops turning) or non interference engine? I would think non since it's newer but I need a definite answer. Thanks.
