i own a 90 civic si with a stock d15 and i was wondering if anyone could give me advice on wether i should do a mini me swap and rebuild the bottom end or would it be more worth my time to just save up for a complete b16 or h22 swap im tryin to save as much as possible and lookin for around 250 whp or more, also forced induction is in my future so can anyone help me out?

if its a 90 civic SI, you should have mpfi and a d16a6, not a d15.

h22 will be a nightmare. just go with a b16 or a mini-me for your first project. even though there is a mount kit for the h22, you spend as much on the mount kit as you would for a full d16z6 swap.

mini me is typically when you put a v-tec head on a non v-tec bottom end
The motor you have already has a v-tec head

Why would you do a mini me?

If i were to spend all of the money on building up a block,
i would go b series

Just my $.02

if you want to keep your d series expect to get very good at tuning or pay for good tuning. if you want power without as much fine tuning. go b.

I think you answered your own question. I recommend a mini-me or a d swap because they can be had for dirt cheap. I have a "hot spare" working d engine in my garage, and 3 different good transmissions to go with it, and i think i have spent about $250 so far on everything.

If you are just starting out, and want to get your hands dirty with no money, then d-series is the way to go. learn on the d and then move to the b. you can afford to blow up a few d blocks learning, but unless you have deep pockets, that wont happen with the B or the H.

Of course, i have no idea of the OP's situation.. so its my $.02 as well.

D16A6 engines have vtec now??

Maybe you should read more, and post less.... just a thought.

If you plan to boost then stick with he d16a6. They take boost really well. What you would spend on a b16 swap spend on a bulletproof bottom end for the d16.

rebuild the d16a6, rods pistons, rings, bearings.. hone the block , have the block hot tanked, decked, balance the rotating assembly, , work on the cylinder head.. do a mild port, 3 angle , update the valvetrain, better cam for turbo.. 440cc mitsu injectors, fuel pump to 255lph walboro .. chip ur ecu.. OVER 200whp for around 2500-3k .. which would cost about a bswap... done

Not everything done in that particular order or fashion, just a list as they came to mind lol
