i hooked up my system once and its worked find - i undid the wires again to cover my boxes in carpet and now I have distrotion and a whole lot of bad **** going on with my system....

*edit* ok after 2 hours working on my truck last night I found out that my problem is the power cable running from the battrey to the amp or its my amp

i undid the power cable (which was running through the firewall) and ran it straight from the battarie to the amp on the outside of the car

still there is a high pitch noise (when the car is off and worse when the car is running) through my speakers and my sub picks up all kinds of distortion coming from the head unit

but this is only when the power cable from the amp is attached

otherwise my componates speakers are fine

wtf is up with this???? do i need to buy a new cable or noise filter or is it my amp?

 

Check your ground. Scrap the paint away from the metal and make sure it's on there good.

 

its only when the power cable is attached to the amp - nothing else connected makes that noise - i tired all the cables seprately
