Maybe the CEL comes on is because even though the stock Honda MAP can read up to 11 lbs of boost, your stock ECU doesn't recognize the signals. I'm not a boost guru so I'm not 100%. Realistically, It should throw a CEL/shut down the car because it sees an out of spec signal. Once you get a chipped ECU it will be able to recognize the boost signals from the MAP sensor. If you plan on doing any real boosting you are going to need a 2 bar or 3 bar map anyway.

correct. you can use the stock map for <11psi only if you have a chipped ecu that is mapped for boost.

currently, you would need a missing link to prevent the map sensor from seeing boost but i dont reccomend it. get tuned and until then stay out of boost.

also, what injectors and fuel pump are you using? those should be upgraded as well.

Not sure if the MAP being used is different in the US than elsewhere, but i ran 12psi on a stock MAP for a few years without ever having a CEL (using a chipped ECU). Peak boost i saw was 1 bar, again no CEL.

correct, you will not get a CEL but the map sensor reaches maximum voltage at i believe 4.8 volts or 10.7 psi. so after that point the ecu is just reading off your last boost column and doesnt really know the difference between 11psi and 14psi. so the ecu will continue to fuel and time the motor like you were still at 11psi. obviously this can become a problem as the car can run lean with the increased boost pressure.

ok good you already have the right fuel system. now you need a chipped ecu and tune. im actually surprised the afc is able to control those 450s on a stock ecu. anyways, i would not boost the car because you are basically untuned and your stock ecu cannot handle boost. the CEL is actually trying to protect your motor by putting it into limp mode whenever you see boost.

bottom line: get the car tuned, unfortunately it doesnt cost $40 as someone stated above. look to spend a few hundred dollars for a proper dyno/street tune.

I wasn't talking dyno/street tune. Those are like 125$/hour but depends on the shop. I was talking about the chip in the ecu. Get that flash tuned for now after you get the ecu for turbo. Then start saving at least $300 a decent tune from a shop.

ok you are referring to a basemap for the ecu which will compensate for the bigger injectors. Good for start-up and getting to the tuner not ok to boost on though since actual afr and timing is unknown

Yup, its just a temp fix. So that you can break everything in before you dyno. You don't want to be on the turbo during the dyno and not have it broken in.

The MAP sensor I will agree with. I'm not sure about the distributer. What did he say was wrong with the one you have? Wrong wiring, 180 degrees out?
