Default 96 likes t "pop" out of 3rd. (5 speed)

I have recently noticed that sometimes (not much lets say just once a week) when im accelerating off from a stop sign or street light that when i put it and third and continue driving it will pull normally as i accelerate then the shifter just jumps back into neutral. I can easily just push the clutch and slip it back in and continue on, but i would like to know the root of the problem.

Suggestions?

Your transmission is going. Start looking for another one because 3rd will go in a few months and wont work at all.

The syncro is gone

eh idk about it going in a few months, a couple syncros on my old truck (87 dodge ram 50, made by mitsubishi lol) were going bad and the tranny lasted me over 6 months until a dear jumped out in front of me and turned my radiator into an engine brake for me, but thats a different story.

just be nice to your car. especially when going into 3rd, dont accelerate hard. and it should last you for a little while. but in the mean time you should deffinatly be looking for a new tranny like Blue94Accord and save up some money to pay for it. you could look into rebuilding your current tranny too. it would be more expensive, but would also be more reliable.

while the tranny is out would be a good time to replace your clutch if you havent done that in a while

just saying from personal experience. my 3rd started popping out and i would have to hold it in. Then reverse went. I started racing with it bad and now it wont stay in at all.

Just bought a trans from syncrotech for 695$

yeah it could deffinatly go out pretty fast but just in my experience i was able to make it last for quite a while.

if 3rd goes completely out i guess just skip that gear until you can get a new tranny. it deffinatly isn't good for the transmission to do that but it is an option to get by for a little while longer

i think the consensus is start saving and looking for a new tranny.

Try some Amsoil GM Syncromesh fluid. It'll help some, but your dog teeths are weared out, so thats why they pop out of gears when you're driving. They don't grip as good anymore. I learned how to rebuild a Honda manual transmission in class and I've learned a ton!

^never used that before but it sounds like a good option to combine with babying the transmission until you can get a new one/rebuild yours.

Yeah, thats what I'm using now in my T2T4 LSD trans. I've heard of stories that it cures some people's H tranny.

Yes, 10w30 works but then you have some other options you can go with. People has been using other brand for years; not just 10w30.

Don't know. Try doing a MTF flush. Go with Amsoil GM Syncromesh, it helps.

The synchros just wear our after time, just cause you dont grind them, they spin inside, so the synchros are to wear out. if you want you could rebuild its not too hard, i have rebuilt a manual trans before, and its fairly simple, just get yourself a manual and a rebuild kit for it, and a weekend, u should have it done.
