1996 Accord Transimission Problem
Alright so several weeks back as I was driving my car up a fairly steep freeway, my car began redlining and the check engine light came on. I managed to drive the rest of the distance cruising at a turtle pace until I got off the freeway. Now here's where the problem got worse; as I came to a stoplight and tried to accelerate, the car would automatically redline and not give any power to the car. If I sped up VERY slowly, it would manage to get to 2-3'rd gear, but the fourth was nearly impossible. My uncle took a look at the car and put in some Lucas transmission slip fluid and Lucas engine fluid into the car that actually seemed to help a LOT for the past few weeks.
Now it's been several weeks and when I'm driving short distances, there doesn't seem to be much problems as long as I come up to 3-4'th gear at a slow pace, but if I drive lets say 30-40 miles and get off the freeway, the problem persists and begins to redline and I can't even manage to get to 3rd gear sometimes. The code that was originally given to me at the autoshop was "P0715". The diagnostic said that there was no problems with circuit B15 & B14 nor were there any short to power around the circuits, but the main shaft speed sensor had a fluctuate resistance and also a weak but NOT bad resistance at the counter shaft sensor.
My question than is, will replacing the sensors simply solve these problems as far as the shifting goes(because I know it will fix error codes for sure) or does this seem like the transmission is gone
Thanks guys, any help would be amazing!

this was the answer I was afraid of... dangg thanks for the advise though. I guess i'll wait out a few more replies than allow for my car to die..
You should be able to find a used one for not much, I sold my 5spd one for less than $150. Automatic shouldn't be too hard to find either.

Yes I am talking about a whole transmission, don't buy it from a shop, and DON"T spend more than $300. $1500 is like a complete H22A swap (motor/tranny/ecu)

Lastly, I'm not too good with cars so what types of trannys would I be looking for? (example the f22a6) . If it helps, I have a 1996 Automatic Honda Accord LX 4 door 4 cylinder
You currently have an F22B2 motor, the transmission should have a white sticker on it with a 4 letter identifier on the front or top. Or if you search I'm sure you can find one. I'd start with Craigslist and the WTB/FS thread at the top of this forum.
From the sounds of it replacing the transmission would be all you have to do. Alternatively you could have your current one rebuilt but that would probably be more than swapping in a "new" used one.

Just to tell you, I did have a P0715 code when my 96 Auto tranny died. Mine was slipping during the first gear. It would not even climb to the 4th gear at all. Good luck man.

Edit: As long as you don't blow the engine by letting the car keep revving to redline.
