A little OT, but I couldn't stand it any longer.

For anyone that watches a lot of racing on TV, I'm sure you've seen the Mobil1 commercial that takes you "inside" a working engine to show off all the parts tat need to be protected, right?

Is it me, or do they have the connecting rods from the different cylinder banks turning the crank in the opposite direction to eachother? And when they move up to the valvetrain they show the rocker arms all fluttering at the same time.

Sorry, just had to vent...

 

so its good oil isnt it??
besides i dont go around trying to notice that ****..either does other people..

Umm...ok

Two things need to be said. First off, I agree that the average person wont be able to notice the details of the engine in that comercial.

Second, and as a credit to Floyd, there is nothing wrong with being observant, and a big to Floyd for noticing the mechanical monstrosity of an engine mobil decided to put in their comercial.

I would say that maybe they only showed things working in an improper order becuase the CG wouldn't be quite as nice looking if things were to be moving correctly. I don't think that they used it as an accurate illustration of the workings of an engine as much as they did as an illustration with an entertaining purpose. Quite a good observation though, I will pay more attention next time that I see that commercial.

 

Well I can guarantee you Mobil didn't even make the commercial. Their ad agency made the commercial. They are just trying to get a theme or point across, not specific engine details.

 

Wow, didn't mean to get you all worked up. Obviously, you feel as strongly about it as I do.

Part of the problem is that I have a TiVo, and I watched it back in slow motion because I thought it was pretty cool. That's when I noticed it.

 

if you want to believe it, spend the money. IMO, Mobil is nothing but a WASTE of money.

 

You guys gotta get a social life outside of Honda-Tech.

So what is the best oil for our cars than?

 

the best oil for our car is whatever you want it to be, as long as you take it out every 3k miles.

id rather use walmart supertech for 2k miles than mobil for 5k.
