Default compressin numbers after rebuild

Hey I got a 95 gsr and did a little rebuild after misshift.

THINGS CHANGED
new rings
used but good condition gsr valves

cyl1=165

cyl2=175

cyl3=180

cyl4=175

Thats after I drove 72 miles on the build.

What do you think???

Did you have the block inspected by a machinist to see if it needed a hone? Perhaps walls were glazed over and new rings didn't seat well. Your numbers are a bit low, but at least they are pretty close, not the best numbers but still within specs. How did you do the test?

ok we did hone out the block and gave it a new set of cross marks.

I had the car idle for a good 5 min.
put the gauge in and ed the car the throttle wide open. We ed the car till it did not go no more

What about the head work? Did you get the valve faces ground down and the valve seats redone?

While honing is important, it's useless if the cylinders are out of round/spec and need to be bored. The piston rings wouldn't have seated in 5 minutes of idling either so that would lower compression. This is not the proper way to seat rings. The valves, assuming they were done right will need to be heat cycled but having a proper valve job done would have been the correct way of re-doing the head.

We broke his rings in like this. 1st gear-Smash it till 6, let go and let it coast down by itself till 2k rpms. Then second the same till 6 then 3rd the same till 6. Then we went up in the rpm range a lil more and more in every gear.
