Default anyone here try the 50 trim ebay turbo ??

i bought this ebay .50 trim .63 a/r exhaust turbo from a buddy for 50 bucks with a down pipe everything is new, i thought it was a deal so i picked it up, but i was wondering if anyone here ever use these egay turbo? is this turbo too small for a 2.0L vtec set-up? im looking to make around the 350hp range on 91 oct with this turbo if possible. what would be the ideal spool time with this turbo? when does the power usually drop off?? wel lmk if u have experience with this turbo....

i really dont care much about reliable because it's ebay, if i did care i would choose garrett, turbonetics etc... blah blah blah.... but yea i consider 50 bucks a deal cause they go for like 100+ on ebay lol....

if you don't care about reliability then you might as well stock up on a few of those baby's....maybe you can get thru the summer with a few of them.

will the 50-trim be good for a 2.0l vtec? yea it will work great as long as it's tuned......if your not gonna spend decent cash on a real turbo atleast spend it on proper tuning..

good luck

There are plenty of threads on h-t about ebay turbos. Some people have good luck but most don't. Honestly I would never put one on my car because machine shop work is to expensive for me once it fails and I have to get my motor rebuilt. I would spend the extra cash on a good turbo and feel safe knowing it's going to last me. Yes it's a great size for your engine setup and will make the power your aiming for. If your patient you can find great deals on name brand turbos. I picked up my precision sc-34 that was ran on 5lbs for a year for 250 dollars. He threw in a gm 3 bar map sensor with harness and autometer carbon boost gauge for another 50. I scored my precision 1000's off vadriven for 150. Point is take your time and look around.

I have the same turbo on my setup and I also ran one on a stock z6 turbo I had, they do good but you MUST run an oil restrictor with them or the seals will blow out and it will smoke like a two stroke. as for making 350 whp I don't know thats kinda pushing it, they aren't very efficient turbos but they can usually make 300whp with out any issues.

check it for shaft play and also make sure when you are tightening the compressor and exhaust housings to the center housing that you don't strip anything out. I overtightened my z6's turbo but it still worked good, my newer one on my ls-t feels alot better quality.

good luck to you, make sure you get a 255lph pump, some decent injectors and pay a professional to tune it and it should rip all right.

your question was kinda dumb and didn't have much specific information, if you look at it for more then two minutes you can get it off.

and I really don't see why your posting it in the forced induction section.

what are the inducer and exducer measurements for the turbos compressor wheel.

i think you are getting .50 AR confused with 50 trim.

chances are the turbo is a 44 trim, it will max out around 300-320whp.

wow, you can buy a lot of nice parts, but the most expensive you want to cheap out on. If it fails, you could blow up your motor. Would you trust cheapo no name rods and pistons if they were on eBay?

You could use the turbo to make a homemade jet engine. Maybe stick it on a riding lawn mower?
