Default Timing Belt Pictures

so far ive removed the motor mount and the top and bottom covers. my next step is to loosen the tensioners but before that i have a question.

ive set the camshaft pulley to TDC but how come my front and rear balancers do not line up to their TDC dots on the oil pump housing?

also, am i suppose to remove the engine mount from the block?

thanks

What engine is this? F22Ax, F22Bx, or F23Ax?

I guess whoever installed it last didn't line them up. No, all you have to do is remove the engine mount, not the engine side bracket.

this is the F22B2 or the lx motor.

but the car drives normally. but i guess it shifts a little high, but not sure if it has anything to do with timing.

ive read from a few posts that at TDC, my rear pulley seems right at around 4-5 o clock. i think only the front balance pulley is off.

one more thing, i will be replacing both my tensioners. is there any thing i should watch out for? should i expect anything shooting at me?

The balance shafts have nothing to do with timing. They are just counterbalances to make the engine vibrate less (if set up correctly).

If they are not properly aligned now, once you get them set-up correctly you will probably notice the engine runs with less vibration, particularly at lower RPM.

oh ive read it a few times and have a printed copy as well as a helms.

it seems very easy online and on the computer but man donig the actual work is a lot harder than i thought. especially pivoting a rusty alternator, a 10mm bolt on the lower timing belt cover towards the fuel filter and maneuvering the lower timing belt cover out with the radius arm in the way...man those things werent mentioned in the books, lol.

thanks for the tips though.

edit: thank god my loosening my crank bolt wasnt as hard and time consuming as i thought compared to the other little things.

yeah I did mine in the driveway over the summer, if you think that lower cover was bad coming out wait until it goes back in, that cover was by far the worst part of the whole job. I have the helm in my cl I can get tomorrow so if you have some problems I'll help where I can.

bolt im trying to remove is in red and theres a hole on the shaft in yellow.

hey guys, how am i suppose to remove the front balance pulley? im replacing the seal and ive tried putting a screwdriver through the hole on the shaft but it was bent in attempt to loosen the 12mm bolt. btw, the belt is off, not sure if the belt is suppose to be on when trying to loosen the bolt that holds the front balance shaft in place.

any tips??
