Default Temp Gauge not working, runs rough at idle

I have an 94' Accord EX, v/tec, 94k on the odometer. The temp gauge hardly works, and when it does, it registers wayyyy low. Also when your sitting at a red light, usually with the AC on, the engine bucks. Any suggestions????

Thanx!

flsuh your cooling system. get a new thermostat?

I doubt the gage is bad but it is possible. mine ALWAYS read at about 4 o'clock.

I briefly had a 5th gen coupe and it was 4 oclock as well, ... but any Accord I've driven if the temp was anymore than say 1/3 up SOMETHING was wrong. Hondas have GOT to be the most consistant cars in reguards to cooling.

i would definately say its your thermostat if it runs rough at idle, probably too cold to register on the guage. take your thermostat out and put it over flame...if it opens, it may still work. if not, then get a new one

actually i believe honda's have two settings on the thermostat, partially open and open, while most cars have just open. so while other cars go up and down because their thermostats are open or closed, honda's have much less fluctuation because the thermostat can be partially open (i believe)
