damn, why do so many people think the VSS has anything to do with the motor speed?

as I posted in this thread https://honda-tech.com/forums/acura-integra-6/help-rpm-tach-jumping-all-over-place-2706556/

The VSS is the Vehicle Speed Sensor and is used to drive the speedometer, not the tachometer. The tachometer is driven by the signal from the ICM (Ignition Control Module) located within the distributor. The signal is on the blue wire and usually when the ICM begins to go bad it can cause your tach to go crazy. If the ICM is ok the wiring needs to be checked from the distributor to your gauge cluster.

here's a good site with lots of info about it:

Ok i directly wired the blue wire for the tach off the dizzy to gauge cluster, now its works every once in a while and only up to 2k-3k then stops working again

vss doesn't control the tach, that's the blue wire coming off the dizzy. how did you straight wire it?

Blue wire off dizzy directly wired from here to back of gauge cluster tach input on the rpm gauge i just loosend up the phillips bolt twisted the wire and put it back on there, tightend it up.

Should i tap it in to the wire that plugs into the back of the plugs of the clip?

I am gonna try swapping the cluster out with another one i got.

Your CYP is a white wire from the dizzy, your CKP is a Blue/Yellow wire, and your TDC is a Blue/White wire.

This is for a 95 Integra OBDI IDK what year yours is go i just guessed if yours is OBDII let me know
