Reverse switch ground wire?
I don't think the reverse switch has a ground wire. It just completes a circuit. If you want to find the ground wire for the reverse lights, then try tracing the wire from the taillights.
If you have switched engine harnesses, you may have to repin the connector wires on the drivers side connector. Follow the wires from the reverse switch to that connector and see if the colors match on the other side of the connector.

So there's one ground wire for the entire harness so if that wire isn't ground right.everything will be jacked up correct?
The switch on the transmission has a yellow and green/black wire on it. The yellow is the 12v feed and goes to the fuse box. (fuse 1, i think) the green/black goes back to the reverse lights. I'm pretty sure the wire is green/black all the way to the back. The reverse lights are grounded at the same place your brake lights are, so if your brake lights work most likely your fuse is blown or you have a fault in the green/black wire. gl hunting!
Then either your switch is faulty or the green/black wire is shorted to 12v somewhere. Try pulling out the no. 1 fuse. If the lights shut off, then your switch is most likely bad or the yel and grn/blk could be shorted to each other. But you really need to take a multimeter and check the wire to be sure.
that thermostat housing ground is probably one of the most important grounds its the ground for most wiring in the engine harness and the ECU but i dont think thats your problem
take the yellow and green wires from the tranny and put them together, your reverse lights should go on if not follow the whole wires
