TPS voltage reversed (inverted)
I have a pr3 OBD0 ecu running a B16A engine and my TPS voltage at idle is 4.6 and at WOT it is 0.7 My ecu doesnt throw any code and the engine seems to run alright most of the time but the rpm that the vtec kicks in at is anywhere from 4k to 6k depending on the throttle position. Has anyone had this problem?
I know the the TPS is normally suppose to be .5 at idle and 4.5 at WOT. Please help

Make sure that the wires run from the correct terminals on the TPS to the correct ones on the ECU and that none are switched. If the TPS is hooked up properly, you'll need to replace it.

I think it's more of a "Your leads are reversed" type of problem
-positive probe to the center(signal) wire and the negative probe to the ground wire will yield the proper results..
whereas ...
-Positive probe in the center and negative probe on the positive side will read the results you have with 5v at idle.
From front of Vehicle (EG Civic shown, yours similar)

I will try that as soon as soon as i get it back together. But I dont think that is true because if I take my multi meter and and put the positive lead on the negative post of the battery and the negative lead on the positive post it gives me the same voltage but a different sign (-12 votls). So with that said I am guessing doing what you said will give me (-4.5 to -.5) instead of what I am getting now (4.5 to .5)

That would be true if you were to simply switch the probes between the Positive wire and the middle sensor wire. But you are switching the negative probe to the actual negative wire. I did this on my car on purpose to be sure before i posted my original response
You'll be good to go.
