just did an auto to manual swap for my dc2. Everything are running fine now with my auto ECU.

I just bought a P72 manual ecu, anybody knows if I can convert P72 auto ecu to manual. Any converters that I can buy to do a simple swap? Here are some pics of the ECUs .

No it cannot be converted and it cannot be chipped either.

 

You bought an OBD2 ECU when you need an OBD1...

You are really very limited with what you can do on OBD2..

 

the bad news - you bought an OBD2 ECU when you need an OBD1 ECU.

the good news - you bought a JDM OBD2 ECU, which operates more like OBD1 than OBD2.
If you pick up a jumper hanress that goes from your OBD1/Auto harness to OBD2a you should be able to plug in the ECU you have and it should be fine.
For some autocross events (depends on the rules for the class) I run a JDM OBD2a ECU in my OBD1 car, no special connections needed, only the harness.
BUT you have to be careful when you buy one, conversion harnesses are more commonly the other way (OBD2 car to OBD1 ECU) you have to specify which car and ECU you want to run to the place you buy it from.

It's obvious you're not in the US, so shipping may suck a little more than normal but check out these places for quality harnesses.

you may require some pin shifting due to the additional plug on your OBD1 setup, but it should be minor. A inquiry to either place should result in an answer. (I'd suggest linking them to this post so they know what you are working with)


alternatly, you should be able to sell the manual trans ECU again and buy the correct ECU for what you want to do. Be sure that it's an OBD1 ECU this time.

 

I would suggest simply buying an obd1 manual ecu.
If you are running an aftermarket intake manifold/parts etc, get a chipped obd1 vtec ecu.
