Best way to overhaul bad transmission? Rebuild?
Well basically something is messed up. When the clutch is not pushed in i hear a noise, when i push clutch in it goes away. I forgot what this bearing is called and yeah its loud and annoying.
Now i'm asking if i take my transmission out and bring it somewhere to have them rebuild it what are the key parts I should replace? Should I Buy OEM parts?
This is a D17 Transmission I have gone through 2 of them already and they are EXPENSIVE.

i had the same problem, a year ago, and just thought it was a throughout bearing, but a tranny tech pointed out that it hissed at me when in gear also. Needless to say every bearing in the f'er had to be replaced. Ultimately ended up with a rebuilt tranny at around 800$. A bit much for me, but i know close to nothing about trannys.
I was checking out there labor book, ad most places usually charge 500-700 just to drop the tranny 5-8hrs, which i feel is pretty horrid BS.
But good luck, i dont know about d17s, but i assume they come cheaper used as opposed to 800$

That's unbelievably shocking. (not trying to show off or anything) but today i removed a LS tranny by myself in the rain, using basic tools in less than an hour and a half. and i'm NO mechanic!charging that much is criminal!
theres not much difference with OEM and aftermarket parts. most of the time aftermarket parts even outperform OEM ones. i suggest the Aceomatic Automatic Transmission Overhaul Kit. its quite easy and straightforward. it can be done the DIY way but if you're not comfortable doing it yourself, have it installed. it would save you alot on the parts.

I have the D series in my 6th Gen Civic. I've been able to replace the ISB without having to replace the entire tranny. BKHONDAPARTS.com gave me a price of $45 for the bearing. It's been the same bearing in the last 3 trannies I've had that start doing this exact same thing. It's ALMOST a grind noise but is more of a howl, especially during down shifting.
That noise is the main shaft bearing, I had to change mine in my ITR tranny and the bearing alone cost me $45 at the dealer. I did the installation. It had the same symptoms. The longer u drive it like that the worse it will get. and like wantalude stated, it will eventually blow up. Dont even change ur tranny fluid at this point.
ISB = input shaft bearing. that's the problem, the typical would be throw out bearing but after many trials with my b series tranny it was the ISB. It's inside the tranny connecting to the input shaft. The repair is easy...
