Default HELP D.D. FUEL Gauge not Working ?!?!?!

Ok so i was riding down the road and i geared down to 3rd messing with a friend of mine and as i got to about 8K i noticed my fuel gauge was droping rapidly. So i kinda freaked out cut the car off and pulled into a parking lot thinking I had a massive fuel leak. I had just filled my car up to the brim so i knew i had fuel but when i pulled in and got out started looking it over ...NO leak anywhere cranked it back up fuel pressure reads good but the gauge in the cluster is sitting below E and will not move. Anybody have any ideas on what could of cause this suddenly to just fall out of the bottom like that ? I have check all the wires and connections but none are loose or disconnected that i can see without dropping the tank. Anyyone ever have this happen to them ? What can i do to fix it ? Thanks in advance guys !!

Maybe the float in the gas tank fell off, so then it reads empty

I dont know for sure but cant you get to the fuel pump from under the back seat. it would be easier than dropping the tank.

The pump is not under the access cover in an '88-91 Civic/CRX. The fuel level sending unit is under the cover; the fuel pump cannot be accessed without dropping the fuel tank.

Check fuse #1, if this blows your fuel gauge wont work. It's a 10amp.

You can get to the sending unit with out dropping the tank. Go in under the back seat.
