Default How Would a jackson blower lose boost?

hi
i am runnin a SCed GSR, and at dynoday, at about 5-6k my boost went past 10 psi into like 11-12...and at 7-8k it tapered off to eventually like 5 psi at 9....anyone know why? before, when i had my car tuned (i had messed w FP settings in between, but i dont see why that would affect boost), boost was consistent 9-10 all the way to 8500...i'm running a 9 psi stepper on my car with hondata and 440 injectors. what gives?

I'd say you have a boost leak somewhere in your IM, or vacuum lines. At least that was the cause of my boost loss problem. Check your intake manifold nuts and bolts to make sure they're solid.

good luck.....

lol u guys are funny haha...well...the boost tapering off is consistent thru all gears...at around the same rpm...so is it belts or manifold leak?

Sounds like belts to me...did you check them?

Specifically your alternator belt.

I had just this problem. I would lose boost after 5000rpm to redline. Check your crank - alternator belt tension. That was the one for me.

good luck

Also, if it was a leak, you would be getting a bouncy idle.

Sounds like your belt may be slipping an not allowing the supercharger to spin as fast as it could. Going to a smaller pulley for higher boost does not help and is most likely the cause.

If this is the case, try using a larger crank pulley (CR-V) and a slightly larger blower pulley. This will allow you to keep the 10 psi you are looking for and will help to prevent the belt from slipping (more contact area between the blower pulley and belt).

not necessarily.
If you had a small leak, you would hardly notice anything at vacuum. My guage didn't even read a vacuum leak. However when the boost kicked in, it would blow right through the are it leaked, and caused my loss. I lost about 3 psi after 5000 rpm to redline.
