nah.. what you need to do is get a 2nd battery or a power cap... a power cap will help buffer the power, so it will hold more constant power for longer, but you may just need a new alternator so you get full power, and a 2nd battery for more power..

You're being given bad info.

You can have your alternator re-wound without a problem. This is probably the best way to fix any wattage issues. Getting a farad cap or an extra battery is a band-aid for the real isuue, which is that your system is drawing more amps than your alternator can provide.

Aside from a company on ebay i did business with, i don't know of anyone in the market except a bunch of local businesses though.

dont do it. get a cap. i have a 15" with 600 watts stock alt, no cap. havent had 1 issue.
no need for the amp increase. if you have any worries put a volt meter in the car. be aware the alt does shut off if the battery has a good charge and turns on when it needs juice, so the volt meter will move as you r driving from 12v-14v. gas milage deal.

a cap is not a bandaid. it protects the batt and alt from voltage spiks.
caps are a good idea. i just need to put mine back in.
a second batt is not needed

A cap IS a bandaid because it does not fix the primary issue, which is that your system draws more power than you put out.

It also doesn't protect the battery or the alternator because voltage never spikes like that, This is DC current, not AC. And if there are surges then that's what you have fuses for.

Not to say a cap isn't a good idea. It can clean out alternator whine of your power and for those who don't pull much power overall, it can be a sufficient band-aid for those few times that your sub makes your lights dim and your car not start.

However, if you're driving long periods of time where you are using more power than your drawing, you could add 10 caps and 10 full batteries and it won't matter, because you will still be draining them. It doesn't take much to completely drain 1 cap, and you have to produce more power than you're using to actually power a cap in the first place.

It all depends on what you're doing with your system on if that's enough.

For me, I have 2 amps and the RMS draw is something like 600watts. On my civic ( 75 amps ) that was too much at night or if i wanted to roll the windows up. In the Integra, I doubt it'll be too much of an issue. But i will be running a cap, mainly because I've got CRAZY alternator whine.
