was driving around today and all of a sudden CEL came on and i checked it and it was CEL23. how the hell do you tell if the sensor is good or bad? also, where is it located on d16y8? any help will be appreciated

 

if it's not on the headers then it's on the cat

borrow a friends o2 sensor and if the cel goes away that's how u tell if it's bad

 

The knock sensor is located on the back of the block just above the oil filter, and it requires a 27mm deep socket or wrench to remove it. As far as checking it I don't know. I have the same code and a buddy had a known good knock sensor laying around and gave it to me. I'm waiting for my next oil change to replace it because it looks like it will be a whole lot easier to change with the oil filter off. I believe to buy one they are over $100 so you have the right idea to test it first.
