Default Coolant Leak

Got my local lube place to let me look underneath my 2006 Civic after I noticed coolant on garage floor. I can see it's coming from behind engine up near the starter, so my worst thought is head gasket. Yet oil on dip stick is clean with no milky look or a steamy exhaust. Any suggestions? Car has 68k.

Thanks,

Keith

Dang your'e scaring me. I have an 06 with 70K. Knock on wood no leaks here. Can you feel behind the motor when it's cool to maybe see where it's coming from? I hope everything works out

any mods?

i had a coolant leak and it was comming from a coolant line that i replaced and came with my cold air intake. it ripped near the hose clamp. check those lines first if u have an aftermarket intake.

if not, remember that leaks run down and toward the back of the car. jack it up, grab a flash light n start tracing. goodluck!

Yep...dealer said cracked block. I find it interesting that they didn't mention the TSB. I'm going to pursue this.

that's a pretty big deal, a cracked engine block. honda is really starting to let me down with the way they have been handling problems in the 8thgen civics. if they have found a significant problem, enough to write a TSB for, they should be contacting every registered owner that is affected by said TSB. just waiting for people to find their (honda's) problem for them is total BS

Update. Honda is replacing the engine, but 2000k is out of pocket from me. I don't like it, but I can live with it. This is a 6-7k job thru regular dealer channel. Could've bought remanufacture for 3000k then have someone put it in. This is genuine Honda and dealer install, so I'm coming out ok.

That would be pointless, The cylinder walls and/or coolant passages in the motor do not crack. The block is notorious to cracking and leaking coolant to the outside of the motor. My sister's Civic had the same problem, She never got a letter from Honda like my mom did for her Odyssey's TSBs (I do all the maintenance and repairs on both cars), I found the leak while I was doing an oil change on the car, we took it to Honda and they immediately told us about the TSB. Thank god it didn't happen while she was driving across the country.
