Need Opinion on Engine swap
Hey guys Happy Holidays.. I wanted to ask you guys for your opinion. I have a 91 civic dx stock d15b2 4 spd auto.. The motor pretty much is shot I have a budget of 1400 and wanted to know what motor should I swap in?? Mind Im goign to have to drive in 2010 for school a total of 80 miles a day all highway 5 days a week. I have seen a stock d15b2 on ebay for 1200 machined shop from head to toe. But at the same time I want some more power. The Zc I've heard it blows da heads easy so wouldnt want to spend that money and end up with a zc w/ a blown head. Do you guys have any good website on zc's?? that sell god low mile ones?? or should i go for the 1200 d15b2 0 mile machined motor here is a link

1400? craigslist is your friend. You might be able to go B18 (LS) I recommend that over the D.O.H.C. ZC because you have more options to go faster later.
But a ZC is alot cheaper since you reuse your tranny, axles, shift linkage, and alot of other stuff that would need replacing with a b-series swap.

and being you have a DX, im pretty sure you wont have a front sway bar. but if you want reliable you can go SOHC ZC. with the amount of driving you will be doing it will take a beating on any motor you swap in, regardless of B or D series. but ultimately its your decision on what you swap in, just remember to keep it well maintained and it will last you.
Were do ulive cuz no matter what motor u buy shippings gonna kill u..........you might be ableto go with a jdm b20 but it depends on what u want to do
I would say get a D16Z6 swap with either a DX or SI manual transmission swap. Also convert to OBD1 at the same time. You could complete this swap for well under your $1400 limit, and have a peppy little car afterwards.
I agree.. z6 in a hatchy
