After researching here and elsewhere, all symptoms of how our 02 Odyssey is acting points to a faulty idle air control, however, the code stored in the on board diagnostics says P1129 MAP higher than expected.

My understanding of what happens when a MAP sensor goes bad does not make the idle surge from 1000-2000 plus intermittently while driving. Am I correct?

Could it be both and it will throw another code when this one is fixed? We are tight on money for a few months and I can replace the MAP sensor but want to be sure I understand more about what is going on first.
