Default OT: Free present from Bolbo shop with service

Just got back a bit ago from the local Volvo shop - had to get the accessory belt tensioner replaced (under warranty). It was wobbling - mechanic said it was likely from CarMax (bastards ) pressure-washing the engine bay. Dirt/grit in bearings = premature failure. Least it was free to fix.

As I left the dealer, I started hearing this godawful sound coming from the engine bay, 'bout a mile down the road. Picturing a flailing belt tearing bits of my engine apart, I coast over to a gas station and stop. Hmm. Noise stopped. Interesting.

Pop the hood, all seems well. Look under the side of the car. Ah ha!! Found this hanging below the car:

w00t! He must have left it just for me

I was just relieved I didn't have shredded belt everywhere. I figure I'll take it back out to him next time I'm out that way - he was nice enough to put up with me watching over his shoulder and asking stupid questions.

I'm still missing a 12 mm craftsman wrench...at this point I don't want to know where it went

I would hate it when I left tools in customers cars... that's a lucky find.

Neon-handled tools rule. Too bad you can't create neon wrenches.

I noticed that about a few of his tools - neon handles for visibility. Would have never thought of that

He lost a bolt, too. That part has not been recovered

Heh. Guess who just called?

Yep, the mechanic. He realized he left it under the hood. Said no big deal if it fell out, but to please call the dealership if I found it. Mentioned something about it being "kinda expensive."

I'll get it back to him, but I'm going to make him feel guilty about the noise
