Does anyone else have any info on how to hook the lap top up to an alpine head unit to play mp3 files?

well if the unit has no other inputs, you definetly need the AINET to RCA cables..then you need to do some work getting the laptop setup exactly the way you want...including getting an inverter to power it, possibly some noise protection.
In terms of the actual hookup,
Radio---Ainet to Rca---rca to 1/8" stereo plug --- computer line out
Done.

i was talking to CDooME 2 and he said...
" see the ai-net cord plugs into the back of the receiver, then the other end plugs into that box, then on the other end, you plug the cd change up, and it also has 2 rca plugs for the input, and a ground wire....when you ground the box, it will switch over to your inputs, and when its not grounded it will play the cd changer."
do i need a cd changer?

no you should not need a cd changer, if that guy is giving good info, you should only need to have that "ground" wire constantly hooked up to ground (cause you have no changer)..
I have not done this myself, but have good confidence you should be ok. Try looking up more specific info on the AI cable, because thats the weakest point.
