05 RSX type-s k20z

current mods:
DC sport header
2 1/4 header back exhaust
AEM cold air intake
test pipe

when the motor starts the rpms jump from 1,000 to 3,500 constanly, then the check engine light comes on, then after the rpms jumping for a while the car just dies, any ideas of what this problem is?

 

pull the CEL and post up what the check engine light is for (code). have you done anything lately to the car that led up to this?

 

a few come to mind but do the CEL test....could be alternator, vaccum leak althou i haven't heard of vaccum leaks causing a car to shut off....tps sensor causes fluxuating idle....distibuter possibly...

 

tps sensor caused that in both my dc5 and ep3 swapped them out problem solved...but i had check engine light come on here and there...

 

it also could possibly be idle air control valve.. you should try to clean it and see if that helps. but if te car turns off. then it could be something on top of that.
