I was hoping maybe someone with some experience with this motor would chime in. I did search. But none of the info was substantial. Now, is the a6 head a good one? And is the d16b2 block similar to the y7?

Look to see where the oil dipstick comes out, if its at the front between the exhaust runners it's not as close to a y7 as it is to an a6.

that the first thing i would look for, y7 dipsticks come out a the side of the engine.

Alright. Thanks for some helpful info. Last question: which head is the best flowing non-vtec head?

the y7 head has 1mm bigger intake valves than the a6, and that's a good thing. but the a6/b2/b7 (all the same casting) head all have much more aftermarket support as far as camshafts and and things like that go.

I have one of these, and turbocharged it. They are pure Honda and usually from auto's in M series Civics built in Swindon for UK and Europe. Some engines may have been sold to Rover (Honda owned part of Rover). Most differences to other D's are with the ancilliaries like the distributor and intake, Different ECU and wiring too.

If you download the workshop manual for the Civic Aerodeck from here - http://hondatech.info/downloads/Auto/Manuals/Civic/m - you will find all the engine specs for the D16B2.
I don't know how this motor has ended up in a 92 hatch though. Mine is a 98 and I know these motors were in some other 96+ MB Civics, usually auto's. Does yours have a plastic intake manifold?

Do you mean does it look like a carburetor set up almost cause the base of the intake manifold is solid but the top is plastic i guess if thats what your asking about

What kind of set up did you use, was it worth building or do you suggest swap

Motor is still going strong but it would have helped to start with a more known engine model.
still on stock internals, T3 .42/.48 @9psi tuned on a p06 with Crome. I must mention that it's also an auto

I got my intake manifold & throttle-body from a local dismantler. The exhaust manifold, downpipe, turbo, wastegate, intercooler & piping, distributor, fuel pressure regulator, gauges & pod, boost controller, and catch can were from different sellers on ebay.
The socketed ECU, LC-1 wideband O2 sensor, Moates Ostrich RTP, Precision 440cc injectors and fuel pump were all from Xenocron.com in the US. Wiring was done by myself and the 2.5" stainless exhaust was hand built locally.

I've got a couple of complete A6 manifolds if you can't find one locally.

Also, there is a Honda Database app available through the Google Play store for Android phones. It's been a good resource and it is updated quite often.
