People in the Toronto Area: have you guys tuned at Neetronics?
http://webhome.idirect.com/~neethlin/go.html
I was wondering if anyone here has gone to these guys and can report back on their experiences. I'd like to give them a shot with my new engine but I may end up going back to Yoshio.

Michael, I have tuned with Neetronics, as well as David Pratte has. Paul is a good tuner, though he is a little conservative (he does not like blowing stuff up). From talking to him, he has quite a few years tuning all types of cars, not just Hondas. I have personally seen him tune an SDS computer on a race only 300ZX turbo.
The only bad thing is that he does not have a wideband with logging capabilities, so you cannot log with Hondata. He uses a wideband with a display, so you have to constantly look at the display.
I did my street tuning with him and I was satisfied with the driveability of my car. We did several sessions of drving around on the street to get the part throttle maps right. I ended up going to Ottawa to tune on the dyno as I never could find a convenient time to schedule some time at DPS or DPE, and I did get more power than with Pauls tuning.
Paul is a good guy though, very amicable, and he will go out of his way to help you.

Wayne,
thanks. sorry but I have a lot of questions for you: how is Paul's pricing structure? dyno time, tuning, ECU.How much will he charge for a Techtom ECU reprogrammed on the dyno? The site doesn't list his costs. It'd be nice to see if he is a viable alternative.
Who did you go to in Ottawa?
thanks in advance....
JPP,
email me...

Sorry to jump in, but when you post price structure, could u also post yoshios structure if you know it? Also that website you posted doesn't give me the most professional feeling (take a look at the "texty" on the dyno page...) then again, hes an engine tuner and not a webmaster so maybe its a good sign

Some times he has also charged me $50 for an hour's work, so I'd say that it is some sort of sliding scale where the more that you tune with him, the cheaper it gets. I had this wierd loss of power in the mid range, and some motor cutting off on deceleration problems that I needed to get rid of, so I did quite a lot of street tuning with him, and we solved those
I'd suggest that you give him a call. He will give you a price for the tuning, just tell him that I sent you

I went to Tapp Auto in Ottawa, they are the other authorized Hondata dealer in Ontario. Chris Tapp is really good at what he does. He has a turbo civic with over 500 whp, tunes motec, hondata and many other PMS's. If you have more questions, email me

I really want to get my car tuned..but now that school is starting up again next week I don't think I will have the time to go down to ottawa. I read ur review of ur experience of getting your car tuned in ottawa, and i was pretty impressed with his work. That being said, is there anyone in the Toronto area who is as competant with the Haltech PMS? Would it be possible to get a web address, phone number, or both?
Thanks guys,
Aly.

Well here is the dyno of my tuned motor. I said that I was not going to post it until I got a chance to run the car at the track, but that is not going to happen for a while as I tore the motor apart to build a 2 litre. Just when I get a nicely built 1.8 litre, two of my friends go build 2 litre motors without telling me
It is a little hard to see, but the Horsepower curve is red, the Torque line is black and the Air/Fuel ratio curve is green.
For some strange reason, the scale for torque is not on the graph, and I did not notice that until I left the shop in Ottawa. The car ended up with 134 ft/lb of torque and 204 HP (SAE corrected). This was done on a Mustang Dyno, and they read lower than dyno jets, so I will hit the dyno again when the 2.0 litre block is completed. The run was on my 17" wheels, though I do not think that it makes a difference. Pardon the blotch on the graph, it was due to condensation from my coke bottle that I was drinking on the way down from Ottawa falling on the paper:D
