DIY windshield replacement?
as the title says. it is possible. another question. usually when i would take the key out of the ignition and open my door my windows wouldnt be able to roll down but lately ive taken the key out openeded my door and the windows will still roll down same for sunroof. its parasitic drag on my battery is there a fuse anywhere to fix that? thanks
I know a guy who is a professional. After hearing many horror stories he has told me I would never attempt it myself.
Getting a tight seal, fixing rust holes on the mating surface, and getting the window exactly in place before the fast drying, unforgiving urethane dries is very hard, and once you open the tube of glue your in a race against the clock.
Its a trade, and you probably won't be happy with the results if you do it on your own man.

When it comes to windshield replacment, your better off just paying someone to come out and do it for you.
I do all my work on my cars, except this. Getting the windshield out itself, is a pain in the ***. Its sealed in there, with a caulk like substance, that you need scrape out, pry out, or whatever you have to do.
You than have to clean out the old caulk like crap, and than use some new caulk like crap and place the windshield over top and let it dry.
Reason why I say to let someone else do it.
I called around, and every place wanted 150 for a new windshield. Installed was like 160 and they came out to location
I hate posts like this.

that would be something i would like to see a professional do a few times before taking on that kind of job. im sure there are some tricks to the trade that you could pick up from someone who does it for a living. but like others have stated, i would rather pay someone the money to get it done right the first time and not have to worry about having to do it over in case i screwed up.
i thought maybe some guys did it ive seen people do it and honestly doesnt look any harder then what ive done in my lifetime on cars. ive tuned more cars on a dyno then you guys have seen on youtube. Wyotech google that
Ive done it myself and it wasnt very hard but Ive only done it to 2 of my cars. I have heard horror stories and would rather pay to do get it done from now on. luckily I did it right the first time. i do agree the right tools make it alot easier.
Wow you're going to come in here and be a dick when people are trying to help you? An attitude like that will not get you very far.
