Converting to obd1 and hondata???
I've tried searching and found some good info but still not quite the answers i'm looking for. I have a 96 civic dx and am about to add all my upgrades. I have i/h/e also msd ignition a y8 intake manifold...fuel rail and a few other lil things. ANYWAY! my questions are this...Converting to obd1 will be benefitial for tuning but what ecu should I use? I have two different kinds of ecu's in my garage that I could use...a p06 from a 94 civic...or a pr4 off a LS. And the other question is would getting s300 be overkill and unnecessary...or helpful with the mods i have and/or will have?(I plan on getting more **** to add on)
If you plan on staying non-vtec any non-vtec ECU will work for you. P06/PR4 are good non-vtec examples and they'll both work just fine. Once they're chipped it doesn't matter which you use because you change the program on them. Those two ECUs will run the same with the same chip put inside of them. The PR4 already has boost control components, if you ever go that route.
If full tunability and datalogging capabilities are what you're looking for the S300 will do what you want, but so will the NepTune RTP system and you'll save yourself some money. I don't suggest using Crome, as it's obsolete, but it is an even cheaper route and *should* work for your setup since it's simple. Good luck.

Thanx bro! This helped. So Neptune huh? I'll look into that more. I feel silly now though cuz I should have realized that it wouldnt matter after the chip. So I would probably want to do the pr4 then huh just incase I wanna boost in the future?
NepTune is good stuff, but I'm biased. Do the research and check out the software for yourself. www.HRTuning.com
That would be the easiest approach, yes. You could also just add the components to the P06 later. Either way is fine.

so after researching a lil bit wouldn't it just be simpler to buy the p28 that is ready to go? Or would it be cheaper to buy the chip and then go to some computer store and have them install it? About how much do they charge to put it in ya think?
If it's not a place that is experienced with the installation process it may be more than it should be. They also won't be able to test the unit to make sure it's been done properly.
I can take care of it for you, I'll send you a PM.

NepTune RTP gets my vote, definitely the best bang for your buck system and comes with great support!
As James already mentioned, I would just use a chipped P06 ecu for now. You can always add vtec to it later down the road if you need it.
