motor swap question
just wondering will i run into any problems swapping my d16z6 for a d15b vtec
seein how it's jdm not usdm?
i have read a few "swap" threads and i couldn't find much on that particular swap.
and also, will i only need the motor/ecu for the swap? i plan on using my tranny, axles ect. from
the z6.

It's a 100% direct swap. If something on the D15B doesn't work, you can take it off the Z6.
Remember to put on a timing belt, etc. Should be common knowledge, but some people don't...

hey this is a great question since I'm doing the same thing on my car and so far I found this problems
the pictures are from the back of the block ...the first one is the d15b and as you can see there is an extra hose .... and then in the "black box" (cant remember the name right now" there is no place to place a hose and I wanted to change the d16 box into it but I dont know how I took the 2 bolts but there is something still holding it
and the 3rd picture is from the d16 and is the "arm" that coms from the tranny and in the d15b there are no holes for that arm
if anyone could tell me what to do It would be great thanks

oh and also I forgot the drivers side bolts for the motor mount are different .. a guy told me that if you take the timing belt cover you can unbolt it and change it with the d16 one but I havent tried that yet, also one bolt from the ps bracket doesnt match... I just used 3 maybe it will work ....

The one on the radiator arm thing goes to the IACV.
The one off the black circle thing goes to the egr or pcv valve, whatever that thing is. Its on the intake mani.

... yeah but how do you remove the black thing??? because the d16z6 has the thing for the hose and the d15 doesnt...

The PCV breather box (black box thingy) is sealed in there with a rubber O-ring and u just have to wiggle and pull and it'll pop out (it's a B sometimes). The "arm" off the trans is just a brace and u don't absolutly need it but I like to keep all my braces and dust covers because they r actually there for a reason.
The black box is a crankcase breather. Remove the 2 bolts and pull/twist it will pop out of the block (o-ring).
The 'arm' may be a 'stiffener'. Some models have the stiffener (D16Z6 I think), some don't.
You can also change out the big black coolant tube by removing the thermostat housing (2 bolts) from the block. It is held in place by the thermostat housing and presses/pops in on each end w/ an o-ring (replace o-rings).
I hope you are not considering connecting the coolant hose to the crankcase breather? The coolant hose runs to the EACV/IACV. The crankcase breather hose runs to the intake manifold.

A cheaper option (and what I did) was to go to Xenocron and get a p08 basemap chip and just chip the p28. Or, go to Hmotors and see if you can just get the p08 ecu from them.
The p28 works fine, but it runs a little rich and it can't take advantage of the more aggressive cam in the D15. So basically, with a stock p28 on a D15B, you're pretty much running a JDM D16Z6.

thank you guys I know this is not my thread but I think the owner will be pleased with the info I guess I should start another thread to keep u posted on the swap... but for now Ill use this one if its cool with the owner....
