Default Stick shift doesnt glide through gear changes as well

My car is a 1998 Honda Accord EX manual transmission.

The stick shift doesnt glide in and out of gear as nicely as before. Awhile ago I can put into first and move to second without hesitation. It would glide from gear to gear. The shifting motition in my hand was nice and smooth. Now it appears griddy and requires more effort moving from one gear to the next.

The transmission fluid was changed at 90K miles. It currently has 123Kmiles now. Do I need to change the tranny oil again or is there something in the gear shift that is getting old?

Many thanks.

how about the fluid resevior for the hydraulic clutch? mine has a slow leak, and from time to time, it is hard to shift gears.

not sure if Im missing something..but the problem is the stick moving within it's area. It is NOT the clutch engaging of depressing the clutch pedal. The problem is the stick is just stiff.

Are you telling maybe changing the fluid in the clutch reserviour would help? It is old fluid, but it is full. I thought this had something to do with the clutch pedal going in and out.

Many thanks for the lesson.

if the clutch isn't depressing correctly, it would make it harder to put into gear. i wouldn't say change it, unless its seriously over due, but that shouldn't cause you an issue.

gritty? like it grinds every time you put it into gear? in that case you wld need a rebuild or a new tranny

What fluid did you put in?

If it was anything other than Honda MTF you may want to change it out. You can also give GM Synchromesh a try.
