Default over fueling?

Hi I just purchased my first type r. It has a minor issue. I have searched and serached for the answer but can't come up with the exact solution. So here goes, the car keeps making the back bumper black from the exhaust. I have had a engine code for mixture to rich and random misfire. I have also borrowed i OBD II tool to check all the sensors I thought that it could be the ECT or the IAT since the temp gauge does not work. although for some reason it started working while car was hooked up to the ODB tool. I was thinking it could be the thermostat, but the heater works great. Or maybe the O2 sensor, but according to the OBD tool the O2 sensor is fine. The car is stock never been raced. low mileage as well. Any info anyone has would be great.

Check plugs. Check Rotor, Pickup, Cap. Check Injectors.

No offense, but his car is stock with low miles and this sounds like a hack job. His car should run correctly all stock. I don't have a solution to your problem but this isn't one either. Your temp gauge not working could be due to a bad thermostat.

my friend had same thing on his white 4 door gsr. Have someone drive behind you while you smash you R. If you see smoke then I'm guessing burning oil. could be wrong. at least thats what my friend had.

Um yeah. Don't listen to any of this. This is the exact opposite of what you or anyone should do. This will make your problem worse but even if your car was working perfectly, this would be detrimental to engine life. Running cold will cause you to run rich which will cause bore wash (excessive fuel washes oil off of cylinder walls); it will plug your cat converter and destroy your O2 sensors; all while diminishing engine performance (too much fuel hurts power), efficiency, and unnecessary damage to the atmosphere.

Misfires are often caused by faulty ignition components. Could be plugs, wires, cap, ignitor, coil, or distributor sensors. You would need to troubleshoot each of these in line and not just replace them without reason.

Running rich itself can cause misfires or misfires can cause the rich condition. So along with checking the ignition components you need to check the fpr and injectors. FPR is an easy check but a stuck injector can be harder to diagnose.

even if you were to do this dont wast your time running it to the ignition... just disconnect the plug at the thermostat housing and cross the plug with a cotter key and shrink wrap it or something, when your ignition is on both fans will run..
