Well, I spent this Labor Day installing a Comptech header and ITR exhaust on my LS. Everything is gravy now, except that I hear a clunking noise from my rear passenger side when I go over bumps on the street or make mid-hard left turns. It seems to be coming from the rear passenger side, probably below where the suspension is. Any ideas as to what could be the problem? It sounds scary, like the wheel is about to fall off, but my friend and I guessed that maybe the exhaust is hitting something as I turn or go over a bump.

is it kinda quiet? like click click click at a certain point in the wheel rotation? happens to me a lot...for me it's just rocks that get stuck in the tire pattern, everytime it hits the ground.

 

nope, we're talking clunk clunk clunk...not like metal on metal...but metal on plastic or plastic on plastic sort of sound. but that's just the way it sounds. it's very audible, and seems to happen only when i go over some bumps or make a left turn. i don't think it happens on right turns (haven't really paid attention to it)

Maybe you didn't reconnect the 5th exhaust hanger that resides just next to the passenger-side suspension.

That would be my first guess.

 

The exhaust is loose and/or is too close to something.

Shake it and move it to the right side (since it only does it on left turns) and try to find any sounds. It will obviously not sound the same outside so maybe get a friend to shake it as you sit inside to confirm the sound.

I'm pretty sure we utilized all the hangars. Is it possible to install the rubber hangar pieces the wrong way?
