Default car overheats

ok so ive been having some overheating problems the last few days... when im driving and moving with no heat on its perfectly fine. when i stop the temp slowly starts to rise but when i turn on my heat its slowly starts to go down. if i dont turn the heat on and let it overheat a tiny bit then start driving itll slowly start to go down also. i added more coolant fluid to it and the problem still happens... any ideas? why only when i turn my heat on... could i hotwire my radiator fan?

ok well i let it run for a good 30 minutes and it started out fine then it started overheating and the fan kicked on then it VERY VERY slowly started to get hotter. it didnt overheat but it was at like the top of the symbol for the water temp. but i was driving down the highway for like 30 minutes today and i hit some bad stop and go traffic and it started overheating when i was stopped. now the engine im sure was alot hotter then, after driving 70 down the highway and what not. im just trying to make sure its not my water pump or my headgasket which i dont think it is. what would explain this? im thinking its the heat from my turbo or my stock radiator/fan. any help would be appreciated. im turbo also so maybe i need to wrap all my turbo hardware?

i don't know, check for leaks, i would do a pressure test, and bled the air.

Start with the thermostat, but I had the exact same problem, and it was my headgasket. Relatively easy fix.

I had a similar problem. make sure your fan is kicking on and staying on until its supposed to shut off. my car started overheating, the fan would come on but only sometimes. I replaced my coolant temp sensor and it fixed the problem. the fan relay can go bad too but I was told the coolant temp sensor is more common.
