You can cheap out on some stuff. You can get some flanges on eBay cheap, mandrel bent tubing to build an exhaust and for the IC piping, some gauges can be found reasonable if you get Isspro or Stewart Warner. Everyone buys Autometer so they never go for under like $40.

Like Rick said, don't get eBay oil lines, the "JDM" intercoolers aren't going to cool quite as well as an expensive one, ebay turbos are very hit or miss and a used Garret can be found for around about 100.

Right. ONE business. we're glad we decided not to try and do that, because even the ebay compressor covers and turbine housings are rather crap.

for quality youl spend $1000-2000 (your not good at math)

manifold 200-600
turbo 200-1000
wastegate n wastegate downpipe 100-150
blow off valve 100-150
intercooler and piping 200
fuel pump $80 (walbro 255lpg about 100 or so)
injectors $100-400
chipd ecu and moates ostrich and tuning $175-600
downpipe 100-200
wideband 200
oil pressure gauge 50
boost gauge 50

cold plugs 16 (ngk bkr7e)
oil feed line 20(cheap out on ebay and youl regret it) I always use ebay oil lines, work great with the restrictor they come with
--------------
cams 300 (not needed for 250-300whp)
stg 45 clutch 200 (never heard of a stage 45 clutch)
port the head 500 (not needed for 250-300)
forged internals 800 (again not needed )
stg1 axles 500 (not needed)
catch can 60 (not needed)
xternal coil n dizzy cap 90 (stock works just fine)
drap radials 200
traction bar 200 (good suspension and you wont need this)
honestly ebay stuff works pretty good if you know how to set it up and what NOT to buy. stick with a cast iron manifold, I got mine for $73 shipped. if you do get a ebay turbo make sure and run a oil restrictor with it, although you can pick up a nice garrett to4e for 3-400 which would really be worth it. if your shooting for 250 to 300 whp get a set of dsm injectors, cheap and OEM reliability. alot of times if you try to run some dumb volvo or dsm turbo it will cost more in the long run. stick with a t3 setup so if you want to switch it out down the road for a nicer turbo you wont have to swap manifolds.

My setup isn't even too extreme and I'm probobly 5k into at least. add labor for a shop doing it for you and 8k doesn't seem to far off base..

What about the dice?

I'd also look into a used greddy kit. I sold mine about 2 years ago basically complete for $1500. The only thing the guy had to get was a tunable ECU. That will satisfy you for the hp goals. I'm sure there are some out there for sale.

As for the 8 g's for shop to do it is about right. They'd probably build the motor for you and install everything so all you need to worry about is coughing up the dough. But I certainly here you on doing it yourself.

edelbrock makes a turbo kit for the gsr that is supposedly a plug-and-play type of deal and i've only heard good things about it (it makes 250 hp and is street legal) but it's kinda expensive (like 3500). my $0.02
