Door Locks Stuck!?!?
It got really cold today night – as in single digits (Wisconsin). I went out to my car, used the key less, and the door wouldn't open. I put my key in, and it wouldn't unlock – it'd turn a bit, but not unlock. I'd try the key less over and over again and it'd unlock then lock itself again. I had to open the passenger's side door and crawl in. Only the passenger side would work. When I tried to switch the tab over to unlock it wouldn't go, I felt like I was going to break it. I tried the unlock switch before that and I heard a click but the tab wouldnt move. I have a 98 Civic if that helps. I don't want to keep having to get in the passenger side every time its cold out. It only happens when its cold too like under 15, does anyone know what the problem could be?
I know I don't post much, but I've been lurking for a long time. The same thing happened to my 98 EX. The door lock assembly just stopped working one day. I had to take the door panel off. This is possible with the door shut. Just make sure you remove all screws. Then I manually tried to unlock the door. If that fails and your door lock is jammed then you are going to have to figure a way out to remove it. My brother is an ASE tech and I used his air hammer to chisel the assembly to nothing. Then the door popped open. Obviously I had to replace the door lock assm.
Which assymbly did you end up getting?

Well I took it apart and put some oil on all the moving parts whether they needed it or not and it seemed to help a little bit. I guess I will just leave my car unlocked since there's nothing worth stealing in there.
