did some bondo work "1st timer"!
Well This wa my 1st time applying bondo and I did enjoy it, I love the fact this puddy will erase all dings or small dents, I have a few pics so enjoy
on Dec 7th i did bondo for the first time, it was pretty simple just alot of sanding, I guess the car was in a hale storm cause there was a bunch of dings on the roof and trunk and hood, I havent done the hood yet but I am going too. Plus I got a new windshield wiper switch, my other one would sagg and turn the blades on when I didnt want them on "that got old fast" well here are some pics

That's it, I have to sand some high spots on the roof and do the hood, and I have like 4 small dings around the body to get, I am sicked that there are no more dings in the roof now, I took the headliner out to pop the big dents up so the roof wasnt weak, and bondo! Oh yeah u see that loaner rim blinging in the last pic RIGHT!!!

i never really sand down to bare metal when i bondo. Turns out fine. One thing you want to make sure tho is when your sanding the bondo down that it is smooth to the touch, you dont want any bumps or it will show up in the paint and you will get pissed.
Yea I was going to say. I would also recommend Rage Gold, it's a lot better filler, and has better flex capabilities. As for the roof, do you know if the skeleton has collapsed? If so, that bondo will crack in no time.

cause I was sanding with my fingers and sandpaper but it leaves waves so that didnt last long.
thanks dude, I have primer but I got primer "FILLER" so it is a **** ton of sanding to get that stuff off, I need to buy some 96 cent walmart primer for now.
No you dont. Do some reasearch and prime and piant those spots correctly or the bondo will soak up moisture and rust underneath.
The "filler over paint" debate has been going on forever. It's actually a combination of emerging technology and old school technique.
The guys that have been doing it for many many years, say that you should always put your bondo on bare metal. They say this because the fillers of 10 years ago, were not as good as they are today in terms of adhesion. The old school fillers were primarily manufactured to obtain maximum adhesion when applied over bare metal. That's changed over time, where as the fillers today don't shrink at all, and grip really well over all kinds of surfaces, granted that it's prepped according to the makers instructions.
I myself, sand completely with a really coarse grit, nothing finer then 80. when the surface is completly prepped, no gloss from the existing surface. I go straight over that with filler. Never had any problems.
Yes, I believe that if you have ANY doubts about what's under that paint, then for gods sake, sand to metal, but if it's factory paint, or it's your previous paint and you know what's under there, do whatever you want!
