Radiator, need help asap!
Hey,
Bout to get my Drag kit in the mail in a couple of days so I'm "prepping" the car for the Force Induction (Had the car for 4 months now) .. Anyways, when I first got the car I noticed the radiator fluid was all rusted looking (will try to provide pics tomorrow if nobody knows what I mean =/) I had been meaning to flush it for awhile but I didn't care about the car maintenance all that much cuz it was suppose to be a temp car until I got my RSX-S, needless to say I realized the potential of my car and I'd rather be beating down on RSX's with a turbo
.
So now I'm paying for some of the stuff I overlooked months ago, even tho the problem didn't begin with me, originally. It looks like radiator was water cooled, from my understanding the car sat outside the dealer which I bought it from for a 9 months (causing the water to rust?) My radiator hoses were all stiff and almost felt like they were gona crack, but a couple of flushes have fixed that..
I'm leaking this "rusted" water at times in my engine bay and I seriously am not putting that turbo on until this problem is resolved. We're gonna take the radiator out flush it down along with the hoses and see if that helps any, if not.. I guess I'll be buying a new radiator and hoses, how much would all this run? Have any of you guys had a similar problem
- This is the only real problem I have with my car... my car doesn't run hot btw..
I plan to put a new built block in there for the turbo setup in a couple months time, so what damage this engine could have possibly taken doesn't bother me, I just want the situation resolved for the new one and the turbo application.

Your looking at somewhere around $50 for hoses and you can either buy a oem radiator for 360 or whatever it was, get a fluidyne or koyo for around the same price, but then have to get new fans. I would reccomend getting either of those for the turbo. I think you have to get a civic radiator to fit a turbo??? Im not sure. I got the one on the bottom of the page http://www.absoluteradiator.com/cgi-...2fd+1031014029 It is all aluminum without the crappy plastic tanks and its cheaper.
An OEM radiator is kinda crappy for one main reason... the ends are plastic and prone to break under small amounts of stress.
You can get one with the plastic parts... it won't hurt at all tho.
Get an aftermarket or OEM style radiator. You can get an all aluminum radiator that will be a direct fit from Pep Boys for about $100-$120 or drop the bux for an aftermarket like the Fluidyne for around $300.
Paste: You don't need a civic radiator to fit a turbo... There will be NO clearance issues with 90% of the manifolds you can purchase... Only in extreme cases would you need to cut some of the fan housing to fit a turbo setup.
Deception... you could do what I did... I had some small fitmet issues with a custom manifold a while back and had to cut into the fan housing... but decided to scrap that and put on a FAL fan setup.... ran over $300 for some freakin' fans... but I don't regret the $$ spent !
New radiator and hoses... prepare to spend around $200.
