I just did a 5 lug swap on my 99 civic si. The driver side tie rod i had to cut the nut from the ball joint off because the nut was spinning with the bolt. Anyway I got a new tie rod from honda, and I just can't get the locking nut loose on the tie rod. I tried heating it up a little bit, wd40, it just wont come off. Any ideas would help greatly, please so I can drive my car again!

 

the locknut that secures the inner tie rod to the outer tie rod? if you truly can't get it off, its time for a new inner tie rod. i can't see why it wouldn't though if you got the outer tie rod off (i'm assuming)

 

yes that one, i"m gonna try again today, I'm just looking for tips, i don't feel like buying a new inner tie rod but if it comes down to it, i will.

 

all i can really say is get a 14mm wrench to hold the rod in place while you loosen the nut.

 

i heated it up for like 6 minutes with the tourch and used a pipe wrench! i got it, its back on the roads!
