emergency z6 swap... a few questions
ok.. my nissan just blew the head, and it will cost too much to fix it (and its got 250,000 miles on it)..
So my friend is selling me his SUPER clean 90 si hatch.. white, perfect condition, 99 si rims, dumped, BUT has a blown head from the timing belt snapping...
So i have a z6 longblock that i can drop in.. Im going to pull the head off and put a new head gasket on it, replace the water and oil pumps, and a new timing kit, so i dont have to do it when its in the car..
my question is, im on a VERY tight budget, and have no manifolds, throttle body, or distributor.. my friend is hooking me up with a gsr ecu and an obd 1 conversion harness, but I dont have the cash to buy a distributor or the manifolds..
so, my question is, can i use the dizzy and manifolds from the stock d15, and leave it obd0 for a while, until i have the cash to do the conversion and get new manifolds?

well if you are going to keep it obd0 then you can use the same distributor and manifolds, but vtec wont functioin without an rpm switch. you cannot mix and match distributors and ecus between obd0 and obd1
you may very well be able to trade that gsr ecu for the parts you need, if you run the gsr ecu on a z6 you're liable to run hella rich and will probably blow the motor, being that redline is not supposed to be at 8500 or w/e gsr's redline at on a stock dseries. hit up the junk yard. if you want to stay obd0, you can use the si's dizzy and manifolds (manifolds don't matter any ways) and you can run a first gen integra ecu.
thats cool.. im glad that works.. i already have the stuff i need.. im keeping the gsr ecu to chip it when i DO go obd1..
I actually heard that the gsr ecu makes the z6 run pretty well.. i may just have to trade it for a p28, if i can find it.. and i wouldnt be reving the **** out of it either.. lol.. i just need to get to and from work.. hahaha

anyone here have a z6 in an ef? i know its a fairly common thing.. i jsut happened to have this engine floating around.. i could imagine the performance gain would be pretty dope... extra 30 hp, 1.5 to 1.6, and the addition of vtec should be fun...
si's come stock with 1.6l's... and i only brought the rev limiter up because w/o even trying (like i would get barely on the gas) i would hit my rev limiter all day, d15b1, mpfi, si trans, si cam, i/h/e and ls tb.
rev limiters suck.. plain and simple.. we were doing some reading online, and tripping out that the car that some of these f1 drivers are, like, -3.0 v8's and ****.. i think one was, like, 2.4 v8, that revved to 20,000 rpm.. i was like "hmmm.. that sounds good.. ill have that"

nononono... not at all.. its IS an Si, and has mpfi, just like stock.. sorry if i was misleading by saying its a 1.5... its the stock d16.. lol..
leave it obd0 on the pm6 and run it non vtec until you can do it all at once is my opinion.
the gsr ecu is going to have weird *** fuel and timing maps due to the butterfly secondaries on the gsr, might not run the z6 that great.
